In 1997, individuals at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital became concerned about the high incidence of child abuse cases in the Council Bluffs area, particularly three deaths attributed to Shaken Baby Syndrome. In an effort aimed at prevention, area organizations joined forces to form the Shaken Baby Task Force, a community effort to prevent Shaken Baby Syndrome.
The purpose of the Shaken Baby Task Force is to educate the community and increase public awareness on the dangers of Shaken Baby Syndrome.
In September of 2014 the Shaken Baby Task Force added our new Safe Baby Campaign to our mission.
